Objective

To verify the reliability of the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) in maintaining server integrity during an unexpected power outage. The test simulated a real-world scenario where the primary power source fails, and the UPS must sustain operations long enough for controlled server shutdowns.


Test Procedure

  1. Power Disconnection: The UPS was deliberately unplugged from the main power supply to simulate a sudden blackout.
  2. Operator Response Time: A 5-minute delay was observed to replicate the average time required for technical staff to physically access the server room and initiate emergency protocols.
  3. Server Shutdown: The manual shutdown procedure was triggered by pressing the designated power-off button for the servers.
  4. Graceful Shutdown Verification: The team monitored the shutdown process to ensure all servers powered down smoothly without abrupt interruptions or data corruption risks.

Test Conditions:

  • Servers were operating in idle mode (minimal CPU/memory usage).
  • No additional load was applied to the UPS beyond baseline server power consumption.

Results

Successful Shutdown: All servers completed the shutdown sequence without errors, crashes, or hardware stress. 🔋 UPS Battery Performance: The UPS maintained 100% battery capacity (3/3 bars) throughout the test, indicating zero discharge during the shutdown window. ⏱️ Shutdown Duration: The process took approximately 1 minute (replace with actual time if recorded) from button press to full power-off state.

Key Observations:

  • UPS switch from main line to battery line at istant speed as espected.
